guruvayoor ramachandran, one of the most senior elephants at punnathoor kota passed away. He was the pattaana of late guruvayoor keshavan. He was 73 years old.
this elephant was offered to lord guruvayoorappan by king samoothiri. |

Kerala has more than nine hundred elephants in captivity. Most of them are owned by temples and individuals. They are used for religious ceremonies in and around the temples, and a few elephants work at timber yards. Experts defined the necessary features (Lakshanam) for a good elephant. The sexy features of the elephants are narrated in different books like "Mathanga Leela". They even said, the girls should walk like elephant to get more attraction. ..
