Cheruvathani Sree Narasimhamoorthi kshethram committee , kunnamkulam, thrissur dist. organising Aanayoottu on 15th of August (Karkidakam 30)2009. They are honuring the Gajaveeran Thayankavu Manikandan by giving Gajarajappattam which he deserves as well,and Dr. Kaimal Sir will be also honoured for the valuable contribution he has given for the welfare of elephants. More than 20 elephants will be participating in the honouring ceremony. |

Kerala has more than nine hundred elephants in captivity. Most of them are owned by temples and individuals. They are used for religious ceremonies in and around the temples, and a few elephants work at timber yards. Experts defined the necessary features (Lakshanam) for a good elephant. The sexy features of the elephants are narrated in different books like "Mathanga Leela". They even said, the girls should walk like elephant to get more attraction. ..
