I am sajan from kandanissery in thrissur district. I first heard about the sivasundher from India today magazine (I think then the time india today was a magazine now it is a weekly) His purchase was a big news at that time. for about 35 lakh, it's the first time an elephant is bought for such a big amount. Since I saw him in near vadakkunathan temple in thrissur. at the first sight I decided if I get chance I should bring him for our local festival. In 2006 i got a chance when i became the secretary of our pooram committee i booked him for around ten thousand rupees. It was a big news in our village because sivasundher never be in our areas. we erected flex boards featuring him an elephant with good kerala features but sadly before 4 weeks of festival we got a call from devaswam, he is not recovered from his madappadu season.it was really a set back for our committee and we replaces thiruvanikkavu rajagopalan for the pooram. Now the rate of Sivasundher has risen enormously we can’t afford that much rate. But if there any chance definitely we should bring him in our village

Kerala has more than nine hundred elephants in captivity. Most of them are owned by temples and individuals. They are used for religious ceremonies in and around the temples, and a few elephants work at timber yards. Experts defined the necessary features (Lakshanam) for a good elephant. The sexy features of the elephants are narrated in different books like "Mathanga Leela". They even said, the girls should walk like elephant to get more attraction. ..
