Biography
CAME TO ERATTUPETTA IN 1977.AT THE TIME AGE WAS 5 YEARS OLD. AYAPPAN IS HAVING 18 NAILS.IT's OFFICIALY DECLARED BY DR.KC PANIKKAR DURING THE ELEPHANT MEDICAL CHECK UP AT ERANAKULAM LAST YEAR.
Erattupetta Ayyappan is a very beautiful Nadan elephant. His tusk is very beautiful. He is owned by Vellukunnel Paravanparambil Family at Erattupetta in Kottayam District. He was for Pattam (Contract) with Kannezhatthu family til 2006. Now the owner and Mr Rajesh Thuravoor looking after his fucntions.

He was given a "GAJARAJAN" pattom in the year 2007
in his narest place called POONJAR by honourable valiyaraja of poonjar Sri P.Keralavarmaraja where he got a prosperous "VARAVELPU".He got a good oppurtunity to wear a good but old "THALEKETTU"

Kerala has more than nine hundred elephants in captivity. Most of them are owned by temples and individuals. They are used for religious ceremonies in and around the temples, and a few elephants work at timber yards. Experts defined the necessary features (Lakshanam) for a good elephant.
